The techniques used in this class are a form of long form improvisation. The class deals with the areas of empathy, emotional motivation and the development of creating a character with depth and believability. I have been teaching the class for ten years and it is very popular and has proved to be very beneficial in helping actors develop their ability to form comfortable dialogue and a believable character and story arc. “Summerstock at the Studio”
2-Week Summer Musical Theatre Workshops
9 am - 3:30 Monday - Friday
* July 4th off ~ 9am to 4pm to make up for lost day
Sessions 1, 2, 3 & 4 (Mini) are open to 4th-8th grade & 9th-College
“Summerstock at the Studio” is an Acting and Musical Theatre intensive. It is our top priority that each student have an equal and shared experience during the workshop; “All boats rise together”. Students in this program will work with the following aspects of the art form:
10-12 Songs and Scenes from Tony-Award winning Broadway Musicals. Learn healthy singing techniques throughout the rehearsal process. Singers with little or no experience will be taught the skills to succeed, while advanced singers will be challenged and guided in the ways of musicality and professionalism.
Choreography that supports this Musical repertoire will be designed to be successful for all levels of Dance experience. Dancers with more experience will provided opportunities to extend their technique.
A 1-Act play of a Comedic nature will be cast and rehearsed, helping each Actor to explore characterization and refine stagecraft.
Improv is a major component of The Acting Studio curriculum and will be an important part of the Actor’s journey during the workshop. Each student will have fun and learn to think fast, playing with their creative side and laughing a lot in the process.
On the last day of each Summerstock Session, friends and family are invited to attend a performance of the workshop material. We are constantly amazed at what your wonderful children can accomplish in just 2 weeks!
Many students take the option to do ALL 3 Sessions (At a reduced cost!) to work on new material throughout the Summer. Ask about the full Summer plan if interested.
*If any resurgence of Covid variance occurs, we may have to take appropriate safety measures - temperature checks, masks, social distancing - as we bring these powerful theatrical workshops back to life.
Enrollment Fee: $475 (Includes Summerstock t-shirt that is final performance attire). July Mini-session Fee: $275
